Formal Fun

Last Tuesday night I took a trip to see one of my favorite families and do a favor for my “little sister” Jill.  She needed her nails done for her 8th grade formal so, of course, I offered my services! I packed up my nail travel bin with tons of colors and tools. Little did I know what I was getting myself into…

When I walked into her house,  I saw fake nails sitting on her table. I have NEVER put fake nails on someone else so I knew it was about to get interesting. After trying my hardest to talk her out of using the fake nails, she would not give in. I began gluing on long fake nails which I had to cut and file down to an appropriate length.

Once the nails were on, I started painting and felt back in my element.  Jill had sent me pictures of nail designs she liked so I knew ahead of time what I was going to be painting.  I thought that would make everything go faster, but when you are surrounded by 4 friends it’s very easy to get distracted.  At one point, I was planning my wedding with Jill’s younger brother. I may have made my way to the candy jar on the coffee table one too many times. Three hours, and tons of distractions, later, I FINALLY finished Jill’s nails and LOVED them. The design she picked matched her dress perfectly!

Although putting on those fake nails were a pain in the butt, I’m so happy we used them.  It made the design look more professionally done and sleek.  I’m glad I got to be a part of Jill’s special day. She looked beautiful!
